Community Living Assistant

Assist people to live more independently within their homes and their community. As a CLA, you will work with clients, their families and close friends to understand each individual's unique needs. That could mean assistance with grocery shopping, personal care, exercising or finding social activities. The range of job duties will differ with each individual you support. Most importantly though, you should be excited about building a relationship with your client by learning their abilities, strengths and weaknesses. That way you can truly empower them to live a quality life of their choosing.

Independent Living Skills Instructor 

Work one-on-one with clients by enabling them to reach personal goals of independence and community participation. As an Independent Living Skills Instructor, you will assist people with developmental disabilities who wish to live in their own home. Your specific duties are based on the needs and interests of the people you support, but could include: meal planning, money management, social activities or using public transportation. The goal is to help people stay as independent as possible, which is incredibly rewarding. You'll be able to witness their accomplishments over time and recognize your role in their successes.

Job Coach

Provide support to currently-employed individuals with developmental disabilities by providing on-the-job coaching. As a Job Coach, you'll help your client find success at work by helping them understand job duties and employer policies. Teaching them how to communicate with managers, and how to develop a strong work ethic. Each person you will work with has their own strengths, preferences and support needs, and these will change over time. An essential part of the job is teaching people how to do the job on their own, so they can be empowered to make their own choices.

Who Should Apply

We're seeking someone who is passionate about raising the bar of employment options and opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. An individual who wants to impact the lives of others by advocating for those individuals' self-advocacy. This opportunity is ideal for people interested in flexible work, but still want a meaningful career.

Ideally, we're looking for someone who:

  • Is patient, reliable and committed to supporting clients.
  • Has experience working with individuals with disabilities and administrative support experience (these are a plus, but not required).
  • Is able to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently.
  • Is willing to drive own car (we do offer mileage reimbursement) and carry auto insurance.
